Arasbaran national park is a protected mountainous region in East Azerbaijan province, northwestern Iran, recognized for its temperate broadleaf forests and biological diversity. The area includes a mosaic of woodlands, valleys and mountain slopes.
Visitors encounter mixed broadleaf forests, steep valleys and mountain pastures that support diverse plant communities and wildlife typical of the Caucasus transition zone. The park is noted for its variety of tree species and for being a green, mountainous landscape in the region.
The region has long been inhabited and used for pastoralism and forestry; it later received formal protection as a conservation area to preserve its forests and native wildlife.
Arasbaran sits along the southern slopes of the Aras River valley in northwest Iran, near the international frontier with the Republic of Azerbaijan.
