Apsley Falls is a waterfall on the Apsley River in north-eastern New South Wales, noted for its steep-walled gorge and scenic lookouts near the town of Walcha.

The reserve provides several viewing platforms and walking tracks that give access to upper and lower vantage points over the falls and the gorge. Picnic areas and interpretive signage are provided for day visitors.

The falls and the surrounding gorge have been a local natural attraction for many years, with walking tracks and viewing infrastructure developed to allow safe public access and interpretation of the river landscape.

Located on the Apsley River in the New England region of New South Wales, the falls lie close to the township of Walcha and are accessible by regional roads.

• Upper and Lower falls: The site comprises upper and lower falls with dedicated viewing platforms and walking routes suitable for short hikes and day visits.

What to See#

• Lookouts and walking tracks: There are two principal viewpoints and walking tracks that serve upper and lower vantage points over the gorge and the falls; interpretation signs and picnic facilities are provided at the reserve.
• Gorge and cascades: The river has carved a deep sandstone gorge at the falls, creating steep cliffs and cascades used for scenic viewing.

Apsley Falls is about 30 km north of Walcha by road; follow the Oxley Highway (B56) and local park signs to the lookout car parks. The final approaches are short walks from parking areas.

• Visit after rainfall when water flow is strongest-Apsley Falls is impressive then.
• There are lookout platforms-use the designated paths for the best and safest photographic vantage points.
• Combine with the nearby Oxley Wild Rivers region for longer day walks and more waterfalls.
