Antwerp Zoo is one of the world’s oldest zoos, founded in 1843, and lies in the centre of Antwerp next to the city’s central railway station. The site combines 19th-century exhibition pavilions, a botanical component and modern animal enclosures.

• Location: Located directly adjacent to Antwerpen-Centraal railway station, making it exceptionally easy to combine with a city visit.

Antwerp Zoo sits immediately adjacent to Antwerpen-Centraal railway station-exit the station and the zoo entrance is a 1-2 minute walk. This makes it extremely easy to reach by national and regional trains that serve Antwerpen-Centraal.

If driving, the zoo is in the city center a short distance from main roads; parking is available in nearby garages around the station and city centre.

• Use the entrance closest to Antwerpen-Centraal station so you can combine arrival or departure with a quick visit to the station itself and avoid the busier park-side approaches.
• Aim for weekday mornings to avoid family crowds that build at weekends and school holidays, and head first to the historical glasshouses and the aviary - these architectural features are often rushed past.
• Give extra time to the zoo's historic pavilions and Art Nouveau structures; visitors focused only on the animals frequently miss the well-preserved architectural details scattered through the grounds.
