Antsiferov Island

Antsiferov Island is an uninhabited volcanic island in the Kuril Islands chain, administered as part of Sakhalin Oblast in Russia. It is dominated by volcanic terrain and steep sea cliffs and forms part of a remote, subarctic island group in the northwest Pacific.

The island is notable for its seabird colonies and rugged volcanic landscapes and is protected under regional conservation measures; there are no permanent settlements and access is restricted. Its isolation and sea conditions make visits uncommon and usually limited to research or monitoring purposes.

Historically it has not supported permanent habitation and has been used primarily in the context of regional maritime navigation and occasional scientific visits. The island is surrounded by deep waters of the North Pacific and subject to strong weather and sea conditions.

Geographically it lies in the central-northern Kuril chain in the North Pacific, administered from Sakhalin Oblast, and is separated from larger inhabited islands by open ocean.
