Cathédrale Saint-Maurice d’Angers is the Roman Catholic cathedral of Angers in western France and the seat of the Bishop of Angers, with construction phases spanning from the 12th century through the late medieval period. The building combines Romanesque massing with Gothic structural and decorative features and is a principal religious monument in the city.

The cathedral is noted for its vaulted nave and extensive medieval stained glass windows, several of which date from the high and late Middle Ages and illustrate biblical and local themes. Architectural highlights include the west façade, aisled nave and the choir area with its stained-glass programs.

Construction and modification occurred over several centuries, with earlier Romanesque elements succeeded by Gothic rebuilding and later restorations. The structure has served continuously as Angers’ episcopal church and has been a focal point for diocesan ceremonies and civic events.

The cathedral occupies a central location in the old town of Angers, standing close to the Maine river and within walking distance of the city’s historic castle and civic centre.

• Best time for stained glass: Morning light often highlights the cathedral’s medieval stained glass, making early visits preferable for photography of the nave and choir windows.

Angers Cathedral stands in the city centre next to the Château d’Angers. From Angers Saint-Laud train station it is roughly a 20-minute walk (about 1.5 km) or a short trip on local buses; the city tram serves the central Ralliement stop, from which the cathedral is a 5-10 minute walk.

• Go in the morning on a weekday to see the cathedral's stained glass and Romanesque-Gothic details with far fewer visitors.
• Avoid major liturgical times (Sunday morning) when access to some parts of the interior may be limited.
• Don't skip the lesser-noticed medieval chapels and the older Romanesque fabric of the building-these features are often overlooked by visitors who head straight to the nave.
