Andros, The Bahamas

Andros is the largest island of the Bahamas, composed of a network of cays, deep mangrove creeks and extensive shallow banks. It is internationally noted for its marine ecosystems - including blue holes, mangrove forests and the Andros Barrier Reef - that support diving, bonefishing and ecological research.

The island’s attractions are primarily natural: submerged sinkholes known as blue holes, long stretches of mangrove-lined coastline and reef channels that are a draw for divers and anglers. Andros lies in the northwestern Bahamas and is accessed by boat or air from Nassau and other islands; its scale and low-density development distinguish it from the more built-up Bahamian islands.
