Andechs Abbey is a Benedictine monastery and pilgrimage site on the hill known as the Holy Mountain above the village of Andechs in Bavaria, Germany. It is noted for its pilgrimage church and an on-site monastic brewery.

The complex includes a baroque pilgrimage church with richly decorated interiors and relics, public dining facilities that serve beers brewed at the monastery, and a beer garden that accommodates large visitor numbers. Terraces and paths around the hill provide panoramic views across Lake Ammersee and the surrounding countryside.

The site has medieval origins as a place of veneration and grew as a pilgrimage destination over several centuries. The present monastic community and the brewery are continuations of a long local religious and economic tradition under Benedictine stewardship.

From Munich, take regional trains to Herrsching (S-Bahn S8), then bus 971 or 978 to Andechs; there are walking pilgrimage routes from Herrsching (about 7-9 km uphill). Car access via Starnberger Straße with parking near the abbey.

• Arrive by late morning to hear the monks' Angelus bells and to secure a seat in the Benedictine guesthouse if desired.
• Use the pilgrimage path from Herrsching or the local bus from Herrsching station; the abbey sits atop a short hill and is visible from the lake.
• Try the monastery beer and the monastery's simple trout dishes in the heuriger-both are local standards and surprisingly serious.
