Andautonia is an ancient Roman settlement located near the modern village of Ščitarjevo in the City of Zagreb administrative area. It was an inhabited urban centre during the Roman era and is known primarily for its archaeological remains.
The site contains visible foundation walls, sections of paved street plan and fragments of mosaic flooring uncovered by excavations; these are the primary points of interest for visitors. Small finds and funerary remains have been recovered from surrounding cemetery areas and are displayed in local and regional collections.
Roman builders established and developed the town during the early imperial period; it retained occupation through the later Roman era before declining in the early medieval period. Excavations and documentation have taken place intermittently since the 19th and 20th centuries.
Geographically it lies on the lowlands southeast of Zagreb in the Sava river basin, adjacent to agricultural land and modern road links to the Croatian capital.
