Ammouliani is a small inhabited island in the northern Aegean Sea, administratively part of Greece’s Central Macedonia region. It is the only inhabited island within the Chalkidiki administrative area and functions as a local holiday and fishing community.
The shoreline features beaches and small harbors used by local fishing boats and visiting pleasure craft; summer tourism is the island’s principal economic activity. Facilities are modest and centered on a main village and the island’s ports.
The island lies off the southern tip of the Kassandra peninsula of Chalkidiki; the nearest mainland access point is the port from which short ferries and boats run during the tourist season.

How to Get to Ammouliani #
Ammouliani island (Chalkidiki) is reached by a short ferry from the mainland port of Tripiti (the port serving Ierissos/Ouranoupolis area). From Thessaloniki the drive to Tripiti is about 90-110 km (roughly 1.5 hours by car, depending on route and traffic); regional roads lead to the ferry slip at Tripiti. The ferry crossing to Ammouliani takes only a few minutes; the island’s main settlement is a short walk of a few hundred metres from the landing point.
Tips for Visiting Ammouliani #
- Take the short ferry from Tripiti (the port near Ouranoupoli) rather than attempting longer connections-check the ferry timetable in advance as frequencies drop off‑season.
- Visit outside July and August or on weekdays to avoid the peak beach crowds and day‑trippers from nearby Halkidiki.
- Walk beyond the main harbour beaches toward the island's quieter eastern shores and inland lanes-many visitors stay near the port and miss quieter coves and local tavernas.
