Batumi’s Alphabetic Tower commemorates the Georgian script with a steel-and-glass column. Visitors ride to an observation level, dine at the tower restaurant and take in views of the city and the Black Sea.
The Alphabetic Tower in Batumi is a 130-metre tower built to celebrate the Georgian script and national culture. Its exterior incorporates the 33 characters of the Georgian alphabet as part of the structure.
The tower contains an observation area and restaurant near its summit, accessed by elevator, and is visually prominent on Batumi’s seaside boulevard. It functions both as a monument to the Georgian writing system and as a public viewpoint over the Bay of Batumi.
Construction was completed in the early 2010s as part of Batumi’s recent urban development and seaside revitalization efforts. The tower is a modern civic landmark rather than an historic monument.
The tower stands on the Batumi seafront in the Adjara region of Georgia, close to the city’s promenade and beaches. It is a short distance from Batumi’s central hotel and tourism areas.
