Albis

Albis is a wooded ridge of hills in the Canton of Zurich in Switzerland, forming a natural high line southwest of the city; its best-known summit, Uetliberg, reaches about 870 m above sea level.

A compact network of viewpoints, short ridge walks and forest trails is the main attraction. Key spots include the Uetliberg lookout with broad views over Zurich and Lake Zurich and the nearby Felsenegg panorama point; many routes are a few kilometres long and can be linked into longer walks along the ridge.

The ridge has long been used for forestry, recreation and local transport links rather than as a fortified or urban site; modern visitor infrastructure includes marked trails, viewpoints and public-transport connections.

Geographically the Albis runs roughly southwest of central Zurich. The ridge sits above towns such as Adliswil and Langnau am Albis and lies within easy reach of Zurich - the Uetliberg station is a short S-Bahn ride from Zurich Hauptbahnhof.

• Public transport access: The S-Bahn line S10 runs from Zurich HB to the Uetliberg station, making the ridge accessible by public transport from the city center in about 20-30 minutes.
• Hiking routes: The Albis ridge is crossed by a network of marked hiking trails with routes of several kilometers; the ridgewalk between Uetliberg and Felsenegg is a popular short-day hike.

• Uetliberg: Sited on the same ridge, this summit reaches about 870 m and hosts the well-known Uetliberg viewpoint with panoramic views over the city of Zurich and Lake Zurich.
• Felsenegg: A lower ridge-top near Adliswil reached by a short cable car from the S-Bahn station, offering a panorama path and access to the long hiking ridge.
