How to Get to Al Wakrah

Al Wakrah is a short drive or metro ride south of central Doha; the Red Line of the Doha Metro stops at Al Wakrah Metro Station and Hamad International Airport (DOH) is the main air gateway. For most visitors the metro is the easiest and most predictable option, with Karwa buses and taxis filling gaps for first/last-mile connections.

By Air

Hamad International Airport (DOH): Doha’s main international gateway is Hamad International (DOH). From DOH you can take a taxi (Karwa) to Al Wakrah in about 20-30 minutes (approx. QAR 25-40 depending on traffic) or use the Doha Metro Red Line from the airport to Al Wakrah Metro Station (see below) - metro journey times are typically 25-35 minutes and single-trip fares are approximately QAR 2-6 depending on class and distance.

By Train & Bus

Train: The Doha Metro Red Line serves Al Wakrah directly at Al Wakrah Metro Station (south of central Doha). From Msheireb or central Doha expect a metro trip of about 20-30 minutes to Al Wakrah; fares are roughly QAR 2-6 for standard travel.

Bus: Mowasalat (Karwa) runs intercity and local bus services connecting Doha and Al Wakrah; journey times from central Doha are around 25-40 minutes depending on route and traffic, with single-ride fares typically a few QAR (often QAR 2-6). Karwa also operates intercity coaches and shared services - check the Mowasalat timetable for specific routes and times.

How to Get Around Al Wakrah #

Al Wakrah is walkable in and around the souq and waterfront areas; many visitors stroll the corniche and market district. Taxis and ride-hailing services are widely available for longer trips, and there are regular intercity buses connecting to Doha. If you plan to explore beyond the town centre, renting a car is convenient. Services run reliably, but allow extra time for trips during peak hours.
