Al Noor Mosque is an Islamic place of worship in Christchurch, New Zealand. It was established in the 1980s and is one of the city’s main mosques.
The building houses a main prayer hall and community rooms used for daily prayers, Friday services and religious education. It sits beside the Avon River on the northern edge of Hagley Park, providing easy pedestrian access from central Christchurch.
The mosque was built and has been maintained by the local Muslim community since its opening. On 15 March 2019 it was one of the sites targeted in a deadly attack that prompted national and international attention; the building has since been the subject of repairs and memorial activity.
The mosque is located next to Hagley Park in central Christchurch, within walking distance of the city centre and major tram and bus routes.
