The Al-Nabi Yunus Mosque was a mosque and shrine in Mosul, Nineveh Governorate, venerated as the traditional burial site of the prophet Jonah (Yunus). It functioned as an important local pilgrimage and religious landmark.
The shrine and mosque stood on a site with a long record of repairs and reconstructions tied to local devotional practice. The structure was heavily damaged and much of the shrine was destroyed after deliberate demolition by Islamic State forces in 2014.
Located in the city of Mosul in Nineveh Governorate in northern Iraq, within the historic urban fabric of Mosul rather than a separate rural site.
