Al Hoota Cave is a karst show cave in Oman’s Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate, located in the Hajar Mountain foothills near the Al Hoota area and the town of Nizwa. The cave system contains substantial passages, a notable underground lake and cave-adapted fauna.
A developed visitor route with a boardwalk and a visitor centre allows public access to a portion of the passages on guided tours that explain the cave’s geology and ecology. The cave is known for populations of blind cave fish and other subterranean life adapted to the dark, aquatic environment.
The cave formed through limestone dissolution and continues to be managed as a tourist and research site. It sits in the interior highland terrain of northern Oman and is accessed from the Nizwa area and surrounding mountain roads.
