Flights take about 45-50 minutes; advance one-way fares often start in the low thousands of ISK when booked early (typical promotional fares ≈ ISK 6,000-12,000).

Keflavík / Reykjavík (KEF/RKV): International travellers generally arrive at Keflavík (KEF) and continue to Reykjavík city (by Flybus or transfer) then connect by domestic flight or by bus along Route 1 to Akureyri (see bus below). Flybus from KEF to Reykjavík is ~45 minutes and costs roughly ISK 3,000-4,000 one-way.

By Train & Bus

Train: Iceland has no rail network.

Bus: Inter-city buses run between Reykjavík and Akureyri (operators including Strætó and private coach companies such as SBA-Norðurleið). Bus travel along the Ring Road takes about 6-7 hours and fares typically range from ISK ~3,000-6,000 depending on operator and season. Local Akureyri buses cover town routes and nearby communities.
