Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park is a high-mountain national park in the Catalan Pyrenees, notable for its rugged peaks and numerous glacial lakes. It is the only national park located within Catalonia and protects alpine landscapes and freshwater systems.

The park features a dense network of high-altitude lakes, valleys, and marked mountain trails that are popular with hikers and nature walkers; many trails link to shepherd paths and mountain refuges. Estany de Sant Maurici is one of the park’s most visited lake basins and serves as a common day-hike destination.

In summer months local shuttle buses and park transport typically run from Espot/nearby parking areas to trailheads; once at the park you access the lakes and refuges on foot via well‑marked trails.

• Use Espot if your target is Estany de Sant Maurici and Boí/Erill-la-Vall if you want to access the Aigüestortes plateau; summer park shuttles and limited parking mean you should check shuttle schedules and reserve parking/shuttle spots where required.
