Aghdam Mosque is a 19th-century mosque located in the ruined city of Aghdam in Azerbaijan’s Aghdam District. It was built in 1868 and served as the main mosque of the town.
The building originally featured regional mosque architectural elements such as a central dome and minarets. After Aghdam was captured and largely abandoned in 1993 the mosque was heavily damaged and the surrounding urban fabric fell into ruin.
Commissioned and constructed in 1868, it remained in religious use until the events of the early 1990s and subsequently suffered substantial destruction and neglect. The mosque is sited within the footprint of the abandoned city of Aghdam on the surrounding plain.
