Adonara is an inhabited island in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, and one of the islands of the Solor group east of Flores. The island is volcanic in origin and its landscape is dominated by rugged hills and small volcanic peaks.

Local life on Adonara centres on agriculture, fishing and village settlements rather than large-scale tourism; visitors encounter traditional villages, cultivated terraces and coastal fishing communities. Road and boat links connect the island to neighbouring Lembata, Solor and Flores.

Historically the island has been part of regional trade and local polities in the Lesser Sunda Islands; colonial-era contact with European powers affected the whole Solor-Flores area. Contemporary administration places Adonara within East Flores regency structures.

Adonara sits east of Flores and north of the larger island of Lembata in the Lesser Sunda chain, within East Nusa Tenggara province.

  • Administration: Part of the Solor archipelago in East Nusa Tenggara, the island is administered within the East Flores area and is served by local ferry links to neighbouring islands.
