Ad Dimaniyat Islands
Islands Protected island group off Muscat important for marine life
Protected island reserve off Muscat comprising rocky islets, coral reefs and nesting sea turtles; tourists book regulated day trips for diving, snorkeling and birdwatching.
The Ad Dimaniyat Islands are a group of small islands and surrounding reefs in Muscat Governorate, Oman, designated as a protected nature reserve. The cluster comprises nine islets and is noted for coral reefs and marine biodiversity.
Snorkeling and diving around coral reefs and rocky shores are the main activities, with frequent sightings of sea turtles and a range of reef fish. Several islands host seabird colonies and provide opportunities for day trips and guided marine-watching excursions.
The islands have been recognized by Omani authorities for their ecological value and are managed as a conservation area to protect coral, fish populations, and nesting turtles. Management restricts certain activities and controls landings to reduce impact.
The islands lie off the coast of Muscat Governorate in the Gulf of Oman, close to Oman’s northern coastline and reachable from the Muscat area by boat. They are offshore from the greater Muscat region and are accessed by small craft or tour operators.
