Acinipo

Acinipo is an archaeological site in Andalusia, Spain, with visible remains from the Roman period, most notably a well-preserved theatre. The site preserves the layout of an ancient town with stone foundations and public works from antiquity.

The theatre is set into a hillside and provides panoramic views over the surrounding countryside; it is the principal monument people visit. Other remains at the site include streets and building foundations that mark the footprint of the settlement.

Acinipo dates to the Roman era and was part of the Roman presence in southern Hispania; its structures reflect civic and entertainment uses typical of Roman towns. Over time the site declined and was left in ruins, with archaeological work documenting its Roman phases.

The ruins lie on a plateau near the modern town of Ronda in Málaga province, Andalusia, positioned above the surrounding plain and accessible by local roads.
