Tibiao Travel Guide

The small coastal town of Tibiao is just that - small. With only three restaurants and limited accommodation choices, this is not a fully fledged tourist destination. Tibiao stretches back to the neighboring province of Aklan and most of the activity centers on the beach.

It is located on the west coast of Panay Island and is part of the larger group of Virayas Islands in the Philippines. It is only a two-hour drive from the tourist hotspot of Boracay. Tibiao River is a great place to visit if you want to experience the thrill of white water rafting.

Tibiao River runs into the area and some of the best experiences can be found here. The waterfall is a great place for all the family to play and relax and is found on the outskirts of town. With its location on the west coast, Tibiao makes an ideal location to explore the entire coastline.

There are many coral reefs to see including the Gui Ob reef to the north of town. San Jose]], the provincial capital, lies less than 45 miles south and was home to the first Malay settlers around 800 years ago.

Getting There & Away

Kalibo airport has direct flights daily from Manila taking no longer than 1 hour, 30 minutes. From here it will take no more than two hours on a local bus to reach Tibiao. Manila is home to the closest international airport. Alternatively you can take a boat from Manila, taking roughly 16 hours, to the port of Dumaguit and then a two-hour bus journey to Tibiao.
