Senggigi Beach Travel Guide

Senggigi Beach is the most active beach in the Senggigi region of coastal West Lombok. It’s not that fantastic a beach but it is a good base for exploring and has the best facilities.

Senggigi Beach is backed by a string of hills which start way back toward Mataram, the Lombok capital 20kms to the southeast. There is a good spread of accommodation at Senggigi Beach including the huge Senggigi Beach Resort. Options for water sports in Senggigi Beach include good snorkeling and diving, with a little bit of surf. The nearby hiking is also pretty good.

The Senggigi region also contains many other beaches such as the quiet and upmarket Mangsit Beach just to the north and Batu Bolong to the south. Senggigi town is in central Senggigi back from the beach and has the best facilities and nightlife of this part of the coast.

There is also a fair amount to see on a daytrip from Senggigi Beach, including the striking Gili Islands just offshore and Mount Rinjani in the center of Lombok.

Getting There & Away

Taxis and bemos run from Selaparang Airport in west Mataram to Senggigi Beach in around 20 minutes. The airport receives flights from Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali (the nearest major airport) in 20 minutes. A ferry from Padang Bai in Bali to Senggigi takes around 5 or 6 hours.
