Senggigi Travel Guide

Senggigi is a town and region on Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara, which features 30kms of beaches and good tourist facilities. Most people come here for the chilling on beaches, the scuba diving and snorkeling, and for the hiking.

The main regions of Senggigi are north Mangsit Beach, northern Tanjung, central Senggigi, and Batu Bolong in the south. The latter is nearest to Mataram town, Lombok’s provincial capital. Senggigi town has the bulk of the facilities with surf shops, hotels, restaurants, and some nightlife.

Unfortunately, the region of Senggigi is not thoroughly defined so you may find yourself in the middle of nowhere if you have pre-booked a hotel. Areas between beaches can also be a bit nondescript and undeveloped. Senggigi is the best place to be based for beaches and nightlife, while Mangsit and Batu Bolong are quieter.

Getting There & Away

Senggigi is 20 minutes north of Mataram, where there is an airport that receives flights from Bali’s international airport in around 20 minutes. Taxis and bemos run to Senggigi from Mataram’s Selaparang Airport. You can also get to Lombok by slow boat from Bali (5 hours).
