Selo is particular popular with rock climbers and there are two large mountains nearby. It is possible to form climbing groups in Selo and to hire a guide and porters to make the experience safe and memorable. The intense natural beauty of the area also makes it a good spot for trekking and relaxing for a while, listening to the sounds of the birds in the trees.
There are plenty of places to stay in Selo and many visitors end up spending several days here, seduced by the friendliness of the villagers and the beauty of the area. This is a good place for purchasing handicrafts as many of the villagers are skilled in traditional arts and crafts such as weaving, sewing and metal work.
Selo doesn't have its own airport, so the easiest way to get there is by flying into the international airport in Jakarta and then taking a bus to Selo in just 50 minutes. There are also buses running to Selo from neighboring towns and cities such as Demak and Jerpara.
