Kalabahi Travel Guide

Kalabahi is the only town on Alor Island, making it the best place to use as a base when exploring the region. Most accommodation is home stay, which provides an excellent opportunity to learn about the way of life of the people who live here and feel part of the community.

The waters around Kalabahi are perfect for scuba diving and snorkeling and there are a number of dive companies located in the area that are willing to rent out equipment. There are a number of mountains on the outskirts of the town, and climbing to the top of these peaks is the perfect way to get an idea of the unspoiled natural beauty of the area.

Travel to Kalabahi - Getting There

Getting to Kalabahi is relatively easy as it has its own airport with connecting flights from other airports in Indonesia. International visitors can fly into Ngurah Rai International Airport on the island of Bali and take a connecting flight (30 minutes). There are also regular ferries to Kalabahi's port from surrounding islands such as Kupang on West Timor (60 minutes).
