Huangyao Travel Guide

Huangyao is an ancient city dating back to 927 BC. It is located in Guangxi Province and boasts an array of spectacular scenery, a wealth of attractions and a history which is both turbulent and fascinating.

The city is overlooked by rolling hills and towering trees which are thousands of years old. Caves dot the landscape and clear waters are home to an abundance of fish and other fresh water species.

Huangyao city center is a mix of old meets new, with ancient architecture sitting next to modern office blocks and sacred temples. There are over 30 halls, pavilions and temples dating back hundreds of years as well as many cultural relics such as the calligraphy of Hanyu (the great scholar) and Gao Shuqi’s former residence.

Every inch of the town oozes traditional Chinese style and simply walking around it will provide countless photo opportunities and chances to learn more about the history of this culturally important and historical province.

Getting There & Away

The nearest airport is found in Nanning and has connections to and from Beijing taking just 3 hours. Once in Nanning, there are buses available to Hezhou, from which there are daily buses to Huangyao. Buses from Hezhou take about 4 hours.
