About Huacheng Square

Covering about 56 hectares, Huacheng Square is a broad public open space at the heart of Guangzhou’s newer central district. It sits between Huangpu Avenue to the north and Haixinsha Island to the south, making it a useful reference point when navigating the area.

The square is defined as much by what surrounds it as by the plaza itself. Key city institutions including Guangzhou Opera House, Guangdong Museum and Guangzhou Library cluster around the square, giving the area a distinctly modern, civic character.
