Set on the northern shore's of Thailand's Phi Phi Don Island, Hat Laem Thong is a secluded beach that's miles away from the crowds. Access is only by boat so few people come and go.
The number-one activity in this laid-back community is basking on the beach. Hotels have beach chairs arranged along the waterfront, and the waters are peaceful and relatively shallow over a 300-foot shelf. Past this breaking point, shallow waters give way to a coral reef.
It's possible to hire longtail boats to explore Mosquito and Bamboo islands, which can both be seen on the horizon. Diving outfitters at Hat Laem Thong also organize diving and snorkeling trips to the best local reefs.
The only way to Laem Tong Beach is by boat, and tourists usually set out in a longtail from Ton Sai Village. A ferry runs between the two early in the morning and is substantially cheaper than a longtail boat. Chartered sea planes connect directly between Hat Laem Thong and Phuket Airport. Otherwise, you'll have to ferry in and out of Phuket (2 hours, 30 minutes), where the international airport offers quick transfers to Bangkok as well as a few international connections.
