Trivia
Calapan has the largest wet market in the province and people travel from all around Oriental Minoro to purchase the various kinds of meat and fish on display.

Although rather pretty, there is little for tourists to do in Calapan, a fact willingly admitted by its own Municipal Planning and Development Office, who state in the town brochure 'Calapan has no known tourist spots'. However, this is the only city in Oriental Minoro, making it a good place to stock up with supplies if you're in the area.

A number of festivals are held in Calapan, and this is a good time to visit as the city suddenly wakes from its slumber in order to celebrate. Particularly popular are the Old Sandugan Festival and the Tinghoy Festival. Both festivals feature singing, dancing and large amounts of good food and drink.
