Trivia
the town began as a settlement of Spanish missionaries back in the 17th century.

The town is by no means the most happening place in Mindoro Oriental and for most tourists it's a destination overlooked in favor of Puerta Galera, the province's most popular vacation resort. That said, however, it's got some lovely beaches and as a quiet destination is likely to appeal to anyone in pursuit of peace and tranquility.

Waterfalls are among the town's best-known visual attractions but there are also several caves worth visiting if you have a penchant for spelunking. Time your visit right and you can be in the town for lively festivals such as the Feast of San Rafael Archangel, a celebration of Abra De Ilog's patron saint.
