What to Do
sunbathing, swimming, visiting the local markets.
Best Time to Go
the dry season between May and November.
How Long?
A day or two is plenty of time in Baucau.

The most accessible part of Baucau is Kota Baru and this is a good place to spend the night. Although not the prettiest part of Baucau, wandering through the streets offers an insight into Baucau life.

There is a pretty beach just outside the old town, and this is a good place to sunbath or swim in the sea. Known as Pantai Wataboo, the beach looks like a postcard scene with its white sand, waving palm trees and turquoise water, while the nearby Portuguese ruins are worth exploring.

A good place to eat and shop for a bargain is the municipal market, and you will find a good range of local delicacies here.
