Zitadelle Jülich is a fortified citadel in the town of Jülich in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, notable for its star-shaped bastioned defenses.
The fortifications were developed during the Renaissance and early modern period as artillery-era defenses; they were modified over successive centuries to meet changing military technology and political control. Preservation efforts in the 20th and 21st centuries have emphasized the site’s historical layout and public reuse.
