Włocławek Reservoir

The Włocławek Reservoir is an artificial lake on the Vistula River created by the Włocławek Dam near the city of Włocławek in central Poland. It is the largest reservoir on the Vistula and plays a role in river management and local recreation.

The impoundment supports hydropower and navigation infrastructure and has broad, shallow shoreline zones that are used for fishing and small-boat recreation. Wetland margins and reedbeds along the reservoir provide habitat for waterbirds and other wildlife.

Construction of the dam and reservoir occurred in the postwar period and the reservoir has since been managed for flood control, river regulation and energy generation while also supporting local economic uses such as fisheries.

Geographically the reservoir lies on the middle Vistula within the Masovian Voivodeship region; the city of Włocławek sits at the dam and is the principal urban centre adjacent to the lake.
