Westerheversand Lighthouse is an iconic red-and-white striped lighthouse on the Eiderstedt peninsula in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, located on the North Sea coast. The tower and adjacent thatched houses create a widely recognised coastal landmark.
The site is visited for its coastal walks across tidal flats, photographic views of the tower and surrounding Wadden Sea, and the preserved keeper’s buildings. Boardwalks and marked paths lead across the salt marsh to the lighthouse area.
The lighthouse was constructed in the early 20th century and has served as a navigation aid for shipping in the Wadden Sea region; it has since become a managed visitor site with restricted access to the tower at certain times.
