Vršac Castle

Vršac Castle is a ruined medieval fortification on the hill overlooking the town of Vršac in Serbia’s Vojvodina province. The ruin crowns a local hill and serves as a local viewpoint over the town and surrounding vineyards.

Visitors find exposed stone ruins, stretches of defensive walls and clear panoramic views across the low hills and plains of eastern Vojvodina; the site is a short hike from the town and is often paired with walks through nearby vineyards. There are no extensive visitor facilities at the ruin itself, so visits are typically short and focused on the summit viewpoint.

The castle originated in the medieval period and was part of the defensive network in the region; over centuries it suffered damage in military campaigns and fell into ruin. It has remained a ruin in modern times and is preserved as a historical landmark and viewpoint rather than an intact fortress.

The castle stands on the hill immediately above the town of Vršac in eastern Vojvodina, surrounded by cultivated vineyards and low wooded slopes. It is accessed from the town by local paths and tracks and occupies a prominent local summit.
