Virunum
Archaeological Site Roman provincial city ruins in Carinthia, archaeological site
Virunum, the Roman provincial town near Magdalensberg, preserves forum foundations and inscriptions; archaeologists and history visitors examine the ruins and nearby museum collections.
Virunum is the site of a Roman-era town and provincial capital in the Zollfeld plain of modern Carinthia, Austria. It served as an important administrative and urban centre during the Roman period in Noricum.
Excavated foundations, street remains and building footprints are the main attractions at the site, illustrating Roman urban planning and provincial administration. Scholarly excavations have exposed parts of forums, public buildings and residential areas.

Its ruins lie on the Zollfeld plain near the Magdalensberg and the modern community of Maria Saal.
