Villa Medici

Villa Medici is a Renaissance-era villa on Rome’s Pincian Hill that today houses the French Academy in Rome. The building and landscaped terraces occupy a central position overlooking the city and Villa Borghese park.

The complex comprises the main palazzo, workshops and formal gardens arranged on terraced slopes, used for cultural programming, artist residencies and exhibitions under the French Academy. The site combines architectural interiors with terraces that provide panoramic views over Rome.

The villa dates to the 16th century and was associated with the Medici family; it later became the seat of the French Academy in the early 19th century and has since been a centre for French cultural activity in Rome.

Located on the Pincian Hill above Piazza del Popolo and adjacent to Villa Borghese, Villa Medici is in central Rome and is accessible from the historic centre and major tourist routes.
