How to Get to Veľká Domaša #
From Prešov (the nearest regional center), drive east on Route 21 toward Vranov nad Topľou for about 40-50 minutes; follow signs to Domaša and the village of Holčíkovce for the main recreational area. There are small local roads linking the different resort settlements around the reservoir; parking is available at the larger beaches and marinas.
Tips for Visiting Veľká Domaša #
- Visit early morning in summer to watch anglers setting up on the eastern shore - the light on the water is best before 8am.
- Bring insect repellent in late spring and summer; the reed beds shelter mosquitoes.
- Rent a small motorboat or kayak from one of the private marinas near Holčíkovce to reach quieter coves.
- If cycling, follow the marked bike trails that circle the reservoir; some sections are steep and unpaved.
