A 16th century Renaissance palace in the historic centre of Úbeda, in the province of Jaén, Andalusia. The building is a representative example of Spanish Renaissance civic architecture and forms part of the principal plaza in the town.
Architectural highlights are its classical proportions and ornament typical of early 16th century Renaissance design in southern Spain; it faces the ensemble of other major Renaissance buildings clustered on the Plaza Vázquez de Molina. The palace contributes to the ensemble that earned Úbeda and nearby Baeza a UNESCO World Heritage inscription in 2003 for their preserved Renaissance urban fabric.
Construction dates to the early 1500s and the building has served as a noble residence and as part of the town’s civic core across subsequent centuries. Alterations and restorations have taken place over time to maintain its structural and decorative elements.
Located in the historic centre of Úbeda, the palace sits on Plaza Vázquez de Molina alongside other Renaissance landmarks. Úbeda is in inland Andalusia, in Jaén province, northeast of the city of Jaén.
