Varasova is a prominent limestone mountain on the northern shore of the Gulf of Patras in western Greece, rising steeply from the coastal plain. It is a well-known local landmark because of its dramatic cliffs and coastal visibility.
The mountain offers steep cliffs and rocky ridgelines used for climbing and scrambling; several small caves and chapels have traditionally been located on the slopes. Visitors approaching by road or sea see a striking vertical face that is prominent from the gulf.
The mountain and its slopes have been part of local maritime and religious tradition for centuries, with hermitages and small chapels recorded in local account rather than as large formal monuments. Its coastal position made it a navigational landmark for local seafarers.
