The Vanoise massif is a mountain group in the Graian Alps located in Savoie in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. Its highest point is the Grande Casse, which rises to 3,855 meters.

The area is characterized by high alpine ridges, glaciated cirques and deep valley systems used for hiking, climbing and ski touring. Mountain huts, marked trails and alpine routes provide access to traverses and summit ascents.

Conservation of the high mountains led to the creation of a national park in the massif to preserve native alpine flora and fauna and traditional pastoral landscapes. The massif sits between the Tarentaise and Maurienne valleys and is adjacent to well-known alpine towns and ski resorts that serve as access points.

  • Highest summit: The highest summit in the massif reaches 3,855 meters, making it a focal point for alpine mountaineering in the French Alps.
  • Protection status: A national park was established in the massif in 1963 to protect alpine habitats and wildlife.
