Vallnord

Vallnord is a mountain sports area in Andorra’s Pyrenees that combines ski slopes, lift infrastructure and mountain biking amenities across multiple sectors in the La Massana area. It is a principal alpine and outdoor-sports destination in Andorra.

Skiers and snowboarders use marked pistes, chairlifts and beginner areas in winter, while the area also hosts an established downhill mountain bike park and cross-country routes in summer. The resort operates as separate sectors-most notably Pal-Arinsal and Ordino-Arcalís-each offering different terrain profiles and services for winter and summer activities.

Vallnord frequently hosts competitive mountain biking events and provides lift-served access to alpine terrain used for both recreational and race training.

The sector-based resort developed over decades as local ski areas expanded and facilities were connected by transport links and coordinated management. Investment in mountain biking infrastructure in the 21st century expanded Vallnord’s summer season and event calendar.

Vallnord sits in northwestern Andorra in the parish of La Massana, in the central Pyrenees between Andorra la Vella and the Spanish border. The area is accessed by mountain roads from Andorra’s main towns and serves as a gateway to higher Pyrenean summits.

• Pal-Arinsal sector: The Pal-Arinsal sector combines the Pal and Arinsal areas and provides the main compact ski and lift network with slopes serving intermediate and beginner skiers as well as accessible village-base facilities.
• Ordino-Arcalís sector: The Ordino-Arcalís sector is a separate higher-altitude area known for open runs, reliable snow and freeride terrain, frequently used for freeride skiing and alpine training.
