Trogir Cathedral, dedicated to Saint Lawrence, is a Romanesque-Gothic church in the historic town of Trogir on the Croatian coast. Its architectural highlights include a richly carved western portal and a bell tower built across several phases from the 13th to 15th centuries.
The cathedral’s main portal was carved by Master Radovan in the early 13th century and displays a range of biblical scenes and decorative motifs; the bell tower exhibits Romanesque to early Renaissance elements completed over two centuries. The interior and chapels contain later altarpieces and sculptural works reflecting the town’s artistic patronage.
The cathedral forms part of Trogir’s compact UNESCO-listed historic centre, which preserves a dense ensemble of medieval and Renaissance buildings clustered on a small island between the mainland and Čiovo island.
- Master Radovan portal: The main portal on the western façade was carved by the medieval sculptor Master Radovan around 1240 and is considered a high point of Romanesque sculpture in the region.
