Treptower Park

Treptower Park is a large public park along the Spree River in the Treptow-Köpenick borough of Berlin. It combines open lawns, riverside promenades, and memorial architecture within an urban setting.

Prominent features include the Soviet War Memorial, a large sculptural complex and war cemetery, plus the Insel der Jugend (Island of Youth) and riverside paths used by walkers, cyclists and boaters. The park is a focal point for recreation and commemorative events.

Created in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as part of Berlin’s urban park development, the area has been shaped over time by landscaping projects and later additions such as memorials and public art.

The park lies on the Spree’s bank in southeastern central Berlin, within easy reach of other central districts by public transport and is often accessed from the S- and U-Bahn stations serving the area.
