Treasury Gardens is an ornamental public garden precinct in East Melbourne, Victoria, adjacent to the city’s government precinct and within easy walking distance of the central business district.
The gardens feature formal lawns, tree-lined avenues, rose beds and several memorials and sculptures that give it a leafy, urban-park character used for walking and relaxation. Paths link through the gardens to nearby Fitzroy Gardens and the Parliament precinct.
The gardens were laid out during Melbourne’s 19th-century development as part of the city’s network of public green spaces and have been maintained as civic gardens since that period.
