The Trascău Mountains are a subrange of the Apuseni Mountains in central Romania, characterized by limestone and karst topography. They are noted for steep gorges and exposed cliffs.
The Trascău massif is a geological karst formation shaped over millions of years; human settlement and pastoral use in the area date back centuries, with local villages maintaining traditional land use and architecture. The landscape has been used for grazing, forestry and small-scale mining at various times.
