How to Get to Tranqueras
Tranqueras is a small town in Rivera Department best reached by road from Rivera city or by long-distance bus from Uruguay's larger cities. There is no strong passenger rail service to the town, so buses, taxis and rental cars are the standard options.
Presidente General Higinio Morínigo / Rivera (RVY): Tranqueras is in northern Uruguay near Rivera; the nearest commercial airport is Rivera Airport (RVY) which handles some domestic and regional flights. From Rivera airport the drive to Tranqueras is about 40-60 minutes by road and taxis or rental cars are used for the connection.
Tacuarembó / Montevideo (MVD): For more flight options you may fly into Montevideo (Carrasco, MVD) or land at Tacuarembó (small regional services) and continue by long-distance bus or rental car to Tranqueras (several hours).
Train: Uruguay’s passenger rail services are limited and do not provide reliable regular services to Tranqueras.
Bus: Long-distance buses are the primary public transport in Uruguay. There are regular coach services connecting Rivera with cities like Tacuarembó and Montevideo; from Rivera you can take a regional bus or taxi to Tranqueras (road trip roughly 40-60 minutes).
