Torre delle Milizie is a medieval fortified tower in central Rome, Lazio, located close to Trajan’s Market and the Imperial Fora. It is one of Rome’s best-preserved medieval towers and a prominent feature of the area’s skyline.
The tower dates to the medieval period, commonly attributed to the 13th century, and formed part of the defensive and residential fabric of medieval Rome. Over centuries it has remained a conspicuous remnant of Rome’s medieval topography.
The tower sits immediately adjacent to Trajan’s Market and the Imperial Fora in central Rome, within the dense archaeological and historic centre of the city. It is easily reached on foot from the Colosseum and other central sites.
