Torre del Mangia

Torre del Mangia is the civic tower rising from Piazza del Campo in Siena, built alongside the Palazzo Pubblico in the mid‑14th century and intended as a symbol of civic pride.

The tower was constructed during the 1330s-1340s and forms a vertical counterpoint to the low curve of Piazza del Campo; its upper chamber houses bells and a narrow viewing platform that overlooks Siena.
